| I know it's difficult, but can we try to avoid the knee-jerk reactions?
Some points:
- Wigan were a better team than us on the night, they were absolutely outstanding and we were well below par
- We had a bad day at the office, but to an extent, our inability to make yards, and break/make tackles, was due to the level of enthusiasm and commitment from Wigan. Their spirit was outstanding - brilliant line-speed and aggression all night.
- We are still a good team.
- Mick Potter is still an excellent coach.
- We are still top of the league.
- We are still in the hunt for honours.
Cliché time, Super League is a marathon, not a sprint. Tonight was extremely deflating but these things happen. Never mind "Potter out," "we r 5hit lolz!" Wigan just had more desire and wanted it more on the night. Good luck to them. I'm still more than confident we'll be in the final mix-up when it comes to silverware, and I'm confident we'll give a better account of ourselves when we get them back to KR at the end of July.
Stick the Leeds CC game on DVD, grab a beer, and try to forget tonight and remember what our team is capable of.

| P.S. I have massive sympathy for the Saints fans who are up there, by the way. Our attitude in losing was very disappointing, as I hinted at Wigan wanted it more, that is inexcusable for any derby game, but my point is that one game does not mean that we are a spent force.

| Think most people would agree, but seeing Sean Long's demonstration of how not to pass a rugby ball for the second week running was disturbing. The basic lack of rugby skills was appalling and can be attributed to fatigue, bad attitude and the determination of the sides we have faced. None of these factors is acceptable.

It's 1 thing getting beat by the better team if your own team puts in the hard work but for Wigan to want it that much more in a local derby is pretty poor to be honest.

So it's not acceptable for a teams that play you to be determined? That'd be a bit boring wouldn't it?

It was disappointing, I was gutted watching the game mainly because of the lack of passion I was seeing from our players but everything you said in the first post is spot on, when I was sat there watching it was horrible and you do get carried away with the negativity about it all but we can't win em all but we still need to remember that we are in a great position anyway and that there is still a long way to go this season and anything could happen.

| Saints are top of the league, must do better!
Wigan won, Big deal! Saints lost, Big deal.
These sort of results (with saints winning) often popped up when Wigan were dominating so why all the furore?
Recent history has shown that Saints very rarely lose 1 game then win again. It is more usual for Saints to lose 2 or 3 before coming back to have a big winning streak. Once we lost to Bradford i knew we wouldn't beat Wigan for this very reason. Lets just hope its a 2 match losing streak

Lets face it no one expected us to be in this position at this point. We are doing far better than was expected.

| Good thread. It shows how fickle RL fans are. It's just annoying that the flat performances had to come against the Dulls and the Goons instead of at Catalans or Hull KR like they usually are. Next week is far more important.
